Douglas County Parents (DCP) is always on the front lines of the fight to protect strong public schools in our community. With the Trump administration’s push to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education and the upcoming school board election, our role has never been more critical.

What We’re Fighting For

  • Public Schools, Not Politics: We work to keep ideological agendas and privatization efforts out of our district and ensure that public tax dollars stay in public schools.

  • Transparency & Accountability: With the federal government stepping back, local school boards have more power than ever. We fight for leaders who prioritize students over politics and demand transparency in school board decisions.

  • Equitable Funding: With the potential shift to block grants and state-level control, we are working to ensure Douglas County schools receive the funding they need—not just for well-connected communities, but for every student, no matter their background.

  • Civil Rights & Inclusion: As federal oversight weakens, we must ensure that Douglas County upholds protections for all students, including those with disabilities, LGBTQ+ students, and students of color. We push for fair policies that create safe, inclusive schools for all.

How We’re Taking Action

  • Electing Pro-Public Education Leaders: DCP supports and mobilizes voters to elect leaders who will fight for strong, well-funded public schools in Douglas County. The 2025 BOE election is our best chance to take back control from anti-public education extremists.

  • Educating Voters: Many voters don’t realize the high stakes of this election. We’re investing in postcards, community events, and outreach campaigns to inform all 300,000 Douglas County voters why their vote matters.

  • Holding the BOE Accountable: DCP monitors and calls out harmful policies, backroom deals, and attempts to privatize public education. We empower parents, teachers, and community members to speak up and push back.

How You Can Join the Fight

  1. Donate: Support voter outreach, campaign materials, and events that help elect leaders who stand for public education.

  2. Spread the Word: Talk to your neighbors, share information, and help educate voters about what’s at stake.

  3. Volunteer and Vote in 2025: The Douglas County BOE election is our best shot at protecting our schools—make sure your voice is heard.

Public education is the foundation of our democracy. If we don’t fight for it, we risk losing it.  Join us in ensuring that Douglas County schools remain strong, inclusive, and free from political interference
